Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday administered oath to veteran Congress legislator Sadanand Singh as pro-tem speaker of the newly-constituted 16th state Legislative Assembly.

Kovind administered oath to Singh, a ninth-term MLA, as pro-tem speaker at a simple function at the Raj Bhawan.

The 72 year-old pro-tem speaker will administer oath to all newly-elected members of the House which convenes tomorrow for its inaugural session.

The Congress MLA from Kahalgaon constituency in Bhagalpur district said his duties as pro-tem speaker will get over after oath by the members and election of the Speaker on December 2 and from then on he will resume duties as the Congress legislature party leader in the state Assembly.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had announced that Singh will be Congress legislature party leader on November 20 when he was here to attend swearing-in ceremony of the Nitish Kumar government.
