ACI Information Group is pleased to announce that the ACI Scholarly Blog Index has been selected as one of Choice’s Outstanding Academic Title for 2016. Choice reviewed the ACI Scholarly Blog Index in the June 2016 issue and the full review can be read here. ACI Scholarly Blog Index also recently won Library Work’s Modern Library Platinum Award for product excellence.
The 2016 Outstanding Academic Title list includes 494 books and electronic resources chosen by the Choice editors from among the more than 5,400 titles reviewed by Choice during the past year. Of these titles, 486 are print products and the remaining eight are electronic resources. ACI is honored to be among these award winners.
The ACI Scholarly Blog Index is an editorially selected and curated collection of scholarly blogs written by leading academics, researchers, and industry experts worldwide. Authors’ academic credentials are included in their profile along with their social connections and ORCID identifiers. Citation, export, bookmarking and other research workflow tools are also included in the ACI Scholarly Blog platform. The collection includes more than 11,000 blogs and over two million blog posts covering all academic subject areas and is indexed in the four leading discovery services.
Choice’s Outstanding Academic Titles list is quite selective: it includes approximately ten percent of the titles reviewed in Choice each year. From the Choice website: “Choice editors base their selections on the reviewer’s evaluation of the work, the editor’s knowledge of the field, and the reviewer’s record.”
In awarding Outstanding Academic Titles, the Choice editors apply several criteria to reviewed titles:
overall excellence in presentation and scholarship
importance relative to other literature in the field
distinction as a first treatment of a given subject in book or electronic form
originality or uniqueness of treatment
value to undergraduate students
importance in building undergraduate library collections
