This is definitely old school versus new school.

Zach Sherwin and George Watsky perform in the latest of their “Epic Rap Battles of History” series, this one featuring Stephen King versus Edgar Allan Poe. The two have created 37 videos featuring various celebrities and historical figures — both fictional and real — squaring off in a war of words.

The video features the acclaimed horror writers — Poe known more for his short stories and King his long novels — battling using much of their own language to tout their writing skills and yes, dis one another.

The two have no problem going at one another, and many of the attacks include their professional work and personal lives.

Once upon a midnight dreary, as I spit this weak and weary, I will choke this joker with a trochee, ‘til his cheeks are teary.

“Once upon a midnight dreary, as I spit this weak and weary, I will choke this joker with a trochee, ‘til his cheeks are teary,” raps Poe. “I’ll forever be better, you’ll never be near me, your books are as eerie as Beverly Cleary.”

Poe also effectively calls King a poseur.

“Stephen you pretend to do it, I’ve been really living through it, misery and poverty and family woes,” he rhymes. “I see through you like panty hose.”

But King fights back against the “pouty little poet,” stating the self-described “workaholic with a fiction addiction” is “making dedicated readers shivery and jittery, feel that rage and misery.”

“I can even take a break from my routine style, crank out a ‘Shawshank’ or a ‘Green Mile,’” King spits. “I’m the author with the blood and gore lore galore that’ll horrify a reader to the core.”

And King finishes his adversary, telling him, “game, money, talent, success, you’ll always have less.”

The video then cues a raven: “Nevermore.”
