The New Friends of the Milton-Union Public Library is a volunteer nonprofit organization that supports the library. The group will hold their annual October meeting with guest speaker this Thursday, October 3rd, at 6:30 p.m in the library’s Multi-Purpose Room. After a brief meeting to update Friends’ members on the September book sale and upcoming projects, Milton-Union Public Library Director, Carol Netzley Coate, will present a program outlining the many opportunities the library can provide for the community. Public libraries attempt to serve the informational, educational, and recreational needs of their patrons with books, music, and movies in various formats, but many local residents don’t realize the full extent of library services. The library’s website and online databases provide access to resources unavailable through normal web searches, and offer free DIY help, small business resources and personal legal forms, as well as language classes, computer classes, and other resources for personal enrichment. Programs for all ages are hosted by the library and the director will be happy to listen to suggestions for future programs or acquisitions and field questions about current library services and practices. Join the Friends this Thursday and learn more about your library.
