Pakistan is one country that is known for all the wrong reasons.

Be it militancy or the conservative political set up that is soft on fundamentalists who indulge in violence at the drop of a hat. If strategic commentators are to be believed, Pakistan has become the epicenter of terrorism.

Most of political parties in Pakistan seem to have a soft corner for the militants for various reasons but a closer look at Pakistan’s political landscape reveals the presence of an impressive set of beautiful female politicians who are not just awesome in their looks but also have shown the courage to move out of their houses against the diktats of the fundamentalists who prefer women to be confined to the four walls of their houses.

1. Hina Rabbani Khar

Born into a Muslim family in Multan, Hina Rabbani Khar is the former Foriegn Minister of Pakistan

the daughter of powerful oligarch and retired politician Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar.

Hina is a trained economist as she earned B.Sc (Hons) in economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

She also has an M.Sc in Business Management from University of Massachusetts.

After successfully contesting the 2008 general election, she served again in the Finance Ministry.

Khar was appointed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs—the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—on 11 February 2011, as part of Gillani’s cabinet reshuffle.

After Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s resignation as Foreign Minister, she became acting Minister of Foreign Affairs on 13 February 2011.

She was formally appointed as Foreign Minister on 18 July and was sworn in on 19 July, becoming the youngest and first female Minister of Foreign Affairs.She continued in that position till 16 March 2013.

When she visited India in 2011, she became cynosure of Indian media that focused more on her beauty and handbags than peace talks with Indian government .

Hina Rabbani Khar is married to a businessperson Feroz Gulzar and has 3 kids, two sons and a daughter.

She is business partner of her husband and owned a restaurant in Lahore polo ground by the name of polo lounge.

2. Kashmala Tariq

Kashmala Tariq is an active politician and women’s rights activist. Born on January 24, 1972 in the Punjab state of Pakistan, Kashmala was a member of National assembly of Pakistan from Punjab province. She had won the elections on Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) or PML-Q ticket.

Kashmala is awesomely beautiful and she is equally articulate.

Kashmala has been a rebel in terms of her appearance and outlook. She created uproar in Pakistan when she wore scanty clothes while on vacation. The photos created huge controversy back home in Pakistan.

Kashmala Tariq is the member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. She was in news for breaking conventional norms and wearing scanty clothes while on vacation. She is known for her stylish dressing and defiant attitude.

Kashmala Tariq completed her graduation from the Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore. She got her LLB degree from the Punjab University in 1996. She was awarded the degree of LLM from the London School of Economics in 1999. She was also the chief organizer of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf in UK.

On July 8th 2008 her membership for the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam was Canceled on charges of anti-party activities.

As member of Pakistan’s National Assembly, She introduced two bills regarding women in parliament, on honour killings and amendments to the Hudood Ordinance. She questioned the legitimacy of Hudood ordinance in Islamic theology as claimed by its proponents.

In August 2006, as a member of the NA Select Committee on Women’s Protection Bill, Kashmala Tariq proposed that a husband, who had sex with his wife without her consent should be tried under rape charges. This enraged the male politicians in Pakistan.

On September 24, 2007, she was elected to chair the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians from 2007 to 2010. Kashmala Tariq represents the new and modern Pakistan that is struggling to survive amid the onslaught of fundamentalists.

3. Sharmila Farooqi

Sharmila Faruqi is one of those female politicians of Pakistan who have been blessed with awesome looks.

Sharmila is a Pakistani politician who was an advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister from September 2008 to January 31, 2011.

Her father Usman Faruqi was a bureaucrat and a former Chairman of Pakistan Steel Mill.

Sharmila is the niece of Salman Faruqi, a well-known confidante of former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.

Sharmila has got a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in law.

She was recently engaged to Hashaam Riaz Sheikh who was an adviser to former President Asif Ali Zardari.

The two met at a cabinet meeting and fell in love with each other.

Talking about Sheikh, Sharmila says,” He loves me for who I am – my virtues as well as vices.”

“She is the love of my life but the president is the first love of my life! Sharmila is the second and she has to compromise on that,” says Sheikh laughingly.

4. Maryam Nawaz Sharif

Maryam Nawaz is one of the most beautiful politicians of Pakistan.

The lone daughter of Pakistan PM Nawaz sharif, she is not only awesomely beautiful but equally intelligent and articulate as well.

She has got a very progressive outlook and is an advocate of modern way of life for Pakistani people.

Born on 28 October 1973, Maryam is now active in politics and assists her father in his party work.

She plays crucial role in all important decisions of his father’s party PNL-N.

Born in Lahore, she graduated from Convent of Jesus and Mary school and after that she earned master’s degree from the same institution.

since 1997, Maryam Nawaz has been the chairperson of Sharif Trust, founded by her grandfather Muhammad Sharif, Sharif Medical City and Sharif Education Institutes.

She is married to captain Safdar who is also a politician.

5. Ayla Malik

Ayla Malik is one name that needs no introduction in Pakistan. She is awesomely beautiful and can give any Bollywood or Hollywood heroine a run for money.

She has been associated with cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan’s political party Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI). In fact , she is a central member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and served as Imran Khan’s campaign manager in Mianwali.

Ayla joined politics in 1998 by becoming a member of Farooq Leghari-led Millat Party. She served as Deputy Secretary General of Millat Party and was a Member of National Assembly (MNA) from the platform of the National Alliance (Pakistan) from 2002 to 2007. Ayla joined Imran Khan’s PTI in 2011.

Ayla is a niece of former President Farooq Leghari. She comes from a family of politicians.

Besides her relation to the former president, she is the granddaughter of Nawab Malik Amir Muhammad Khan, otherwise known as the Nawab of Kalabagh. Her sister, Sumaira Malik, is an MNA for the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).

Recently she was in news when Lahore High Court’s election tribunal bench declared her ineligible to contest from NA-71 after her party chairman Imran Khan vacated the seat. She was declared ineligible because of her fake intermediate degree.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi, had declared her intermediate certificate ‘bogus’ on July 20 that carries the roll number of a male candidate named Imdad Hussain, who too had failed.

It is said that Nawaz Sharif agreed for this marriage after their relationship became public.

6. Marvi Menon

Marvi Memon is one of the leading female politicians of Pakistan. She is a member of Pakistan Muslim League (N) presided by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Marvi memon was elected to the National Assembly on a reserved seat for women from the province of Punjab.

Marvi hails from Sindh and she decided to join PML-Q later on.

On June 22, 2011, Memon resigned from the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) because of her stated concerns regarding the party’s “corrupt and incompetent treasury benches”. She also resigned from her post in the National Assembly.

More than seven months after her resignations, she chose to join the Pakistan Muslim League (N).

Marvi is a graduate from London School of Economics, she worked at Citibank and Pakistan Television Corporation before helping with the launch of an entrepreneurial venture, Trekker – Pakistan’s largest vehicle tracking service provider.

7. Sassui Palijo

Sassui Palijo is a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.

Sassui belongs to Pakistan Peoples Party. She is the only directly elected female assembly member in Sindh out of 168 assembly members. At present she is serving as Minister for Culture in Sindh cabinet led by Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

Born on 10 January 1976, Sassui is a double graduate, BA from University of Sindh and undergraduate degree in law from London.

Sassui Palijo’s father, Ghulam Qadir Palijo, has been a MPA twice and is still active in politics. Her mother, Akhtar Baloch, was the first female Pakistani political worker to be arrested under General Ayub’s martial law. During the anti One-Unit movement at the age of 19 she was imprisoned for a year for staging hunger strike against military rule. Her grandmother late Jiji Zarina Baloch was a well known writer, folk singer, teacher, actress, novelist and a political activist.

8. Sumaira Malik

Sumaira Malik is also one of the leading politicians of pakistan.Her uncle, Farooq Leghari was a prominent politician and former President of Pakistan. Her sister Ayla Malik is also a politician who remained member of the National Assembly from 2002-2007.

Sumaira ran for the National Assembly seat from Constituency NA-69 in the Pakistani general election, 2002 on National Alliance ticket, in Pakistani general election, 2008 on PML-Q ticket & in Pakistani general election, 2013 on PML-N ticket.

Sumaira emerged victorious all three times. However,she was disqualified from her seat of National Assembly by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on account of her fake degree on 29 October 2013.

She is the daughter of Malik AllahYar Khan and the granddaughter of Amir Mohammad Khan, The Nawab of KalaBagh. Her son, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan is a member of National Assembly from Constituency NA-69, elected in by-polls 2013.

9. Shazia Marri

Shazia Marri is a Sindhi Baloch Pakistani politician and member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Shazia belongs to a family of veteran and influential family of Sindhi politicians. she was elected to provincial assembly of Sindh for first time from 2002-2007 and again from 2008-2013 from one of the seats reserved for women, representing Pakistan Peoples Party.

Her grandfather Ali Muhammad Marri was a member of the legislative assembly of Sindh in 1944-45 during the British Raj.

Her father Atta Muhammad Marri has remained a member of the National Assembly and Sindh Assembly, as well as Deputy Speaker of Sindh from 1990-1993, and mother Parveen Marri has also remained a member of the provincial assembly in 1985-86.

After the death of Fauzia Wahab, she was appointed as MNA on Fauzia Wahab seat.

10. Farahnaz Ispahani

Farahnaz Ispahani is a well known politician of Pakistan. She is also the wife of Husain Haqqani, the former Pakistan Ambassador to the United States, and is the granddaughter of Pakistan’s first ambassador to the United States, Mirza Abol Hassan Ispahani.

A former journalist, She is a former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Politician, Writer, Women & Minority Rights advocate, Farahnaz Ispahani is a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center.

She is a Pakistani politician who served as a member of Parliament and Media Advisor to the President of Pakistan.

As a member of Parliament, she focused on the issues of terrorism, human rights, minority rights and US-Pakistan relations.

Ms. Ispahani spent the formative years of her career as a print and television journalist.She is also PPP International Media Coordinator and chairperson for Pakistan Peoples Party Scholars Wing.

Her uncle, Zia Ispahani has also served as a politician and former ambassador for Pakistan. Ispahani was born in Karachi and grew up in Karachi, Dhaka and London. She graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts, majoring in political science.

She was the youngest female CEO of a multinational firm in the country.
