Job portal JobStreet.com has partnered with local operator Globe Telecom to allow jobseekers to use their mobile phones for job-hunting.

The tie-up between the two firms is an attempt to seize the opportunities brought about by the massive shift of job postings from print media to online.

Yoda Buyco, marketing director of JobStreet.com, said in a presentation during a press briefing that the number of job ad placements in jobsites grew by 60 percent from 2011 to 2012. In contrast, job ads in print media expanded by just 5 percent.

The partnership will give Globe prepaid subscribers unlimited access to JobStreet.com via the mobile phone as part of a mobile surfing bundle.

With Mail20 Plus, users can search for job vacancies by position, location or specialization; receive personalized job alerts; e-mail resumes; and instantly apply for a desired job opening using their mobile phone via m.jobstreet.com, the mobile site of JobStreet.com, which is accessible on the phone browser or through the JobStreet mobile app.

The JobStreet mobile app allows users to browse through jobs by categories or fields of expertise, view personal job matches and receive job alerts, save job searches and views, share job openings to friends and contacts, and apply for job vacancies.

The app is available for download on iTunes, Google Play, BlackBerry World, and Windows Market.

iPhone users can also avail of the “Jobs Near Me” feature that helps them find jobs at their preferred locations. iPhone users can shake their devices at their preferred locations and all job opportunities will appear on the device map.

Job searches can be narrowed down by inputting keywords or filtering specialization and position level at the search page.

Aside from JobStreet.com and the JobStreet mobile app, subscribers also get unlimited access to the mobile sites of Facebook, Yahoo Mail, and GMail as part of the mobile surfing bundle for P20 per day.

This way, they can view and respond real-time to e-mails sent by prospective employers and update their Facebook accounts on the status of their job applications, without the need for Wi-Fi.
