2016 was a hard season for many teams in the sport of NASCAR.

Like every other nationally known sport full of athletes to talk about, there have been many rumors flying recently about a certain team.

The Motorsports Group came out of a rough year this off season. With problems picking up sponsors and little success on the track, easy to assume that a team is going to close down.

So, of course there were rumors flying that TMG would be taken over by Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing. Many speculated that the two teams would merge into one in order to race the No. 33 car.

That is pretty tough news, and honestly it’s realistic. WE all were wondering until TMG made an announcement on their website recently wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and informing us all that they are looking forward to racing in the 2017 season Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

“We want to thank all the fans, friends, family and partners for all the support this past season.  2017 brings in a lot of changes, including some key team changes and a new tile sponsor. We look forward to our participation in the MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES.”

That’s amazing news! There IS a catch to it all, however, and it does involve the owner of Circle Sport, Joe Falk. Apparently Falk has bought a large amount of interest of TMG, and because of that he has asked them to make some changes in personnel and crew.

According to sources, Pat Tryson may be the crew chief, and the team could change to Toyota (ran Chevy in 2016). There has not been a driver named yet.

This is huge news seeing that we all thought TMG would no longer exist come 2017. We’re eager to see who the driver is and how this upcoming season goes for the team!
