Police finally share details on Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter and her horrifying accident.
It was just yesterday that we found out about Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter, Maddie. They young girl is only 8 years old and she was in a terrifying ATV accident that has her now fighting for her life. Now we have the official update.
TMZ reported the incident saying that Maddie was rushed to the hospital on Sunday afternoon and she is needing all of our prayers. Many news sites were posting about Maddie’s intense condition, but Jamie’s rep released a statement asking for privacy.
“The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn’s daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family.”

Her rep wasn’t the only one who spoke out though, Jamie’s father released a statement begging for prayers for his little grand daughter.
“All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie…”
Now, PEOPLE finally has the scoop on the accident and it is absolutely heart wrenching. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards, spoke with PEOPLE sharing about the incident and even brought clarity to Spears’ rep’s comment about Maddie.
Edwards shared that Maddie was steering the Polaris ATV about 100 yards from her parents when the horrific accident occurred. She made a hard right turn to try and avoid a ditch but she over corrected herself and flew straight into the pond.
Apparently Jamie and her husband were close to the pond and attempted to rescue the young girl as quickly as they could. Unfortunately Maddie was trapped by the seatbelt and it wasn’t until minutes later that the ambulance was able to rescue her from the freezing waters.
“In doing so, she overcorrected causing the ATV to enter the pond,” the report reads. “The ATV and child were instantly submerged in the water right before their eyes. Within seconds the child’s mother, stepfather and other family members reached the pond, dove in and attempted to rescue the child to no avail. The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting. Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters.””
Although we have no update on Maddie except that the family is wanting full privacy during their devastating time. The Sheriff’s office also pleaded for prayers for the family as they deal with the incident.
“This is an extremely tragic accident,” the report concludes. “The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking you to keep this family in your constant prayers as they try to cope with this horrible incident. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time of need.”
