Gambia’s leader Yahya Jammeh has rejected the result of the presidential election held December 1, a week after admitting defeat.

Yahya Jammeh has changed his mind.

Speaking on state TV, Mr Jammeh cited “abnormalities” in the vote and called for fresh elections, adding that he would no longer concede to opponent Adama Barrow

“In the same way that I accepted the results faithfully believing that the Independent Electoral Commission was independent and honest and reliable, I hereby reject the results in totality,” he said,

Sources say the Opposition Coalition Chair  Fatoumata Tambajang’s  threats to investigate and arrest  President Yahya jammeh prompted his advisors and the military complex to ask him to contest the election.

The president has now ordered a new election to be organised by people he calls God fearing.
