ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — On Wednesday, more than six tons of turkey were delivered in the Capital Region ahead of a big Thanksgiving dinner for those who are less fortunate.

Price Chopper and Market 32 donated the turkeys needed for the 2016 Equinox Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner.

It’s one of the largest and longest running holiday traditions in the Capital Region.

The truckload of turkeys were loaded and brought to the Empire State Plaza on Wednesday.

“I think it’s important for people to understand that Equinox doesn’t just put on the dinner every year, they spend every day of every year to help disenfranchised folks and abused women and others in our community day to day,” an employee said.

On Thursday, the second annual Thanks-Gathering Celebration will kick-off at the state museum in the Adirondack Exhibit.

All proceeds from the celebration will help those served by Equinox.
