GLOVERSVILLE, NY (NEWS10) – At around 11:20 p.m. Friday, Gloversville Police responded to a Domestic Violence call at 110 Bleecker Street.

It was reported that an intoxicated individual had left the area and was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed. As officers responded to that location, that vehicle struck the building on the southwest corner of Bleecker Street and Church Street.

29-year-old David Duesler got out of the vehicle while armed with at least one knife and began provoking officers to “shoot him”.

Officers followed Duesler from that intersection south on Bleecker to West Fulton Street, west on West Fulton Street to Frontage Road, then north on Frontage Road to the front of the Police Department. During all of this, Duesler was yelling at Officers to “shoot” him and “kill” him.

Once in front of the Police Department, Officers were required to use less than lethal force to subdue Duesler and take him into custody.  Duesler was then transported to a hospital for treatment.

The investigation is pending at this time. The Gloversville Police Department would like to ask the public for help with this incident.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that there was a dark-colored vehicle in the area of Grand Street and Bleecker Street that witnessed the Duesler’s vehicle driving erratically at a high rate of speed.

Gloversville Police is asking those people to call them at 773-4506, as well as anyone else with any information relating to this incident.

The Gloversville Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, the Johnstown Police Department, the Gloversville Fire Department and the Ambulance Service of Fulton County.
