JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Officials say an inmate was arrested after he allegedly flooded his cell with toilet water, bit a sheriff investigator and spit at a correctional officer.

Authorities say 23-year-old Matthew Petty, who is already incarcerated at the Fulton County Correctional Facility, was arrested by Fulton County Sheriff’s Investigators following this incident.

They say Petty created a disturbance within the housing unit by flooding his cell.

While being moved to another cell, Petty became combative with correctional staff. They say he threw toilet water onto a correctional officer and injured another man’s hand during the struggle.

Petty also spit at one of the correctional officers, striking him in the eye.

While being arrested for this incident, Petty became combative with arresting officers and during the struggle; Petty bit a sheriff’s investigator in the arm.

Petty was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a felony, Aggravated Harassment of an employee by an Inmate, a felony and Harassment in the Second Degree, a Misdemeanor for the incident with the correctional staff.

Petty was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a felony for the incident with the sheriff’s investigator.

He was processed and will be arraigned in the City of Johnstown Court at a later date.
