Tuesday, July 19: One crew from Uckfield provided cover in Crowborough at 9.40pm while their crew dealt with an animal rescue.
Wednesday, July 20: At 4pm, two Uckfield crews were mobilised to a road traffic collision on a lane near Buxted. Nobody was trapped and the scene was made safe.
One Uckfield crew provided cover in the Battle area at 4.35pm while crews from across Rother, Hastings and Wealden dealt with two serious fires in Hastings and Rye.
Thursday, July 21: At 4pm one Uckfield crew was called to join crews from West Sussex to deal with a fire in a plant room at a Haywards Heath hospital.
Crews from Uckfield and Forest Row were called to a road accident in Danehill at 4.45pm where they made the vehicles and scene safe.
Friday, July 22: A call to smoke coming from a tanker on the bypass at 9.30am was not traced!
At 9.50pm an Uckfield crew and Crowborough’s animal rescue team were called to free a deer from a fence in Fletching.
Saturday, July 23: A bizarre turn of events which resulted in three people collapsing at an East Hoathly property at 11am resulted in numerous Police, Fire and Ambulance vehicles rushing to the village. As there was no initial explanation for that number of casualties, the incident was treated as a potential major chemical incident. However, it transpired that a daughter of the family had fainted in the heat and cut her head as she fell. Her sister then fainted at the sight of the blood and their poor mother then fainted at the sight of her girls collapsed on the ground. Normality was restored following some oxygen therapy, precautionary checks of the area and a trip to hospital for the children.
A fire involving a tractor and a length of hedgerow at 7.40pm at Cross In Hand was extinguished by two crews from Uckfield.
Monday, July 25: A man had a lucky escape when the mini dumper truck he was driving overturned at a Chailey property at 12.35pm. Fearing that the vehicle was going to be engulfed in flame, the driver’s work colleagues managed to lift it enough to release him. Crews from Uckfield and Haywards Heath attended and paramedics treated the driver for a leg injury.
Tuesday, July 30: A small fire in the garage of a Ridgewood property was dealt with by an Uckfield crew at 5.05pm.
During the past fortnight Uckfield firefighters have also attended calls to fire alarms sounding in Maresfield, Halland, Golden Cross and Forest Row.
