Anchor offers products and service levels that are quite simply second to none.
Anchor Lifting Services Ltd. in Roscommon town supplies customers nationwide with a comprehensive range of market-leading lifting equipment and also provides a professional installation and maintenance service. We met up with company founder Tom Cummins to find out more about this excellent operation.
Tom Cummins established Anchor Lifting Services on January 1st, 2001 and the company has been on the up ever since! Over the past decade-and-a-half, the Roscommon town based company has earned a reputation as the premier provider of industrial lifting equipment in the west.
Zoning in on a specialist market, Anchor offers products and service levels that are quite simply second to none.
The experience and expertise of founder Tom and his staff is reflected in the company’s ability to attract a wide range of industry customers from factories and power stations to the ESB and Bord Na Mona and local authorities (County Councils).
Anchor Lifting Services specialises in providing, installing and maintaining lifting equipment. They provide specialist lifting equipment from all major manufacturers and are the sole Irish agents for Crosby.
Crosby and Kuplex are considered the standard of the international lifting equipment industry. This can be drawn from the fact that most contracts involving rigging products in the US and around the world read Crosby Only or Crosby or Equal. Crosby and Kuplex products are manufactured with the highest design factors in the industry and are better equipped to withstand abusive field conditions because of the improved impact and fatigue characteristics designed into each item. The majority of Crosby’s products are heat treated, which allows them to deform if overloading occurs, giving warning before ultimate failure.
Anchor are also distributors for Yale, Checkmate and GIS lifting equipment, which ensures that they can offer a solution to every type of lifting requirement.
Yale Hoisting Equipment manufactures the world-renowned Pul-Lift ratchet lever hoist. This general purpose, robust and reliable tool – along with a widely increased range of performance rated products – has made Yale a leading manufacturer in the hoisting market. Yale products are designed with practicality, endurance and safety in mind to ensure that no matter which Yale Hoisting product is chosen, German quality is guaranteed.
Meanwhile, Checkmate is built around a safety-first ethos, from conception of design, business culture and ultimate user safety with capabilities ranging from design, testing, manufacturing, installation, training and consultation with health & safety paramount. Checkmate supply technically innovative, cost-effective products derived from vast knowledge and experience, a leading UK company supplying textile slings and work at height safety equipment.
Operating out of a central base in Roscommon means Anchor Lifting Services Ltd. are ideally located to cover the whole of Ireland. An island-wide service is provided, covering all 32 counties and the northern border counties.

Most of our customers are in the Connacht region, within a 60-70-mile radius of Roscommon town, which gives us a very big catchment area and also service the rest of the country.
Looking to the future, Tom is confident that he can continue to develop the business going forward: We will keep providing a good product and a good service, he concludes. We have come through the downturn and things are picking up again. We have just installed a new shop / showroom, which is one of the first of its kind in Ireland and allows people to come in and see the different products on display and also to see some demonstrations. We re in a good position and we re looking forward to continuing to offer our customers excellent products and an unmatched service.
