River Bend Maple Syrup Fun Run, pancake brunch River Bend Nature Center will host the 11th annual Maple Syrup Fun Run and pancake brunch. Trail runs are offered in distances of 5K, 10K, and new this year is a 50K solo and 50K relay ultra-trail run. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m following the race is the pancake brunch. Brunch admission is $7 per person, or $5 for River Bend members. Registration and race details are available at www.rbnc.org/funrun[2].

Bike Challenge 6 a.m.-10 p.m., Pick up a map and bike the 10 mile River Bend trail system during the month of May. Finishing riders should stop by the nature center and report to the naturalists the highlights they saw along the trails for a reward. Bike rental and equipment available. National Bike to Work Week Kick-off 12 a.m., To kick off National Bike to Work Week, The Coffee Shop & Chocolate Haven on 313 Central Ave. N., Faribault, will give away a free small coffee with purchase of baked good and 20 percent off a bike tune up at Mill Town Cycle when participants ride to the Coffee Shop.

Faribault Area Retired Educators meeting at new location 9 a.m., The Faribault Area Retired Educators will meet the Fellowship Room in Boldt Funeral Home. Please note the location change. Following a board meeting, there will be a social at 9:15 a.m. and the program will occur at 10 a.m. with the business meeting to follow. The program will be to learn about services provided at Ruth s House.

American Legion Auxiliary prepares for Poppy Days 9:30 a.m., The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at the American Legion club to making baskets with poppies to raise awareness for veterans. Volunteers will be out giving away poppies on Poppy Days, Thursday and Friday. Donations money will go to help veterans and those currently serving in the military as well as their families.
