Have you personally received Pixel Laser treatments for skin resurfacing? If so, how do you like your results?

Yes. I absolutely love my results! Having worked at Sona MedSpa for over 6 years, I have had the pleasure of experiencing all of our treatment modalities. Pixel is definitely one of my favorites. I usually try to have a treatment done once or twice a year to maintain my results and hold off any signs of aging.

Who is a good candidate for Pixel laser resurfacing?

Anyone concerned with their skin’s overall texture and appearance would be a good candidate for Pixel. However, due to an increased risk of worsening hyperpigmentation or developing PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) clients with a darker skin type (Fitz 5 or 6) would not be a good candidate for Pixel.

Pixel improves fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, melasma, uneven pigmentation, rough textured skin and will minimize the appearance of pore size.

What areas of the body does Pixel treat?

Virtually every area! While it is most frequently used on the face and neck, it can also be used on the décolleté/chest, shoulders, back, hands, abdomen or any other body part that one wishes to improve texture.

How does Pixel Laser Treatment work?

Pixel is a FDA-approved, erbium:YAG fractionalized resurfacing laser. The laser beam is broken up or fractionated by a patented micro optic lens into small micro beams. These separated infrared light beams allow only a portion of the skin to be damaged. The micro-injuries cause a significant thermal impact to the surrounding tissue which promotes new, healthy skin cells and collagen production. The surrounding skin, which is left intact, allows for more rapid healing and less risk of complications. Due to the rapid healing, treatments can be scheduled once per month. Treatments typically take 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Because the target or chromophore of this laser is water, it is very important to be hydrated before and after this treatment. Sona’s highly-trained medical technicians can individualize Pixel treatments allowing them to focus more on areas of concern.

When should you begin to see results?

In the first few days following the treatment, a healing reaction will stimulate the growth of new collagen. The initial redness will diminish significantly as the epidermis (outer layer of skin) flakes away, revealing fresher looking skin. After several weeks, due to collagen regrowth, the skin will appear plumper and smoother. The epidermis will be more youthful in appearance and fine lines and wrinkles will continue to fade. The skin will heal from the “inside out’ revealing improvement in skin texture as well as skin tightening. Best results, however, are noted three to six month after the final treatment.

Why would you recommend Pixel?

Because I know it works! I have been lucky enough to see the benefits Pixel has made with many of my clients. I only recommend services that I consider safe AND effective. Pixel is defiantly high on my list.

What was one of the most rewarding client transformations you’ve seen?

I began working with a teenage client a few years ago. He suffered from significant acne to his face and body. He also had significant folliculitis due to the amount and coarseness of his hair. We began treating his acne with topical products and chemical peels. He also underwent laser hair treatments to reduce the amount of his unwanted hair. After we cleared the skin on his face, he underwent a series of Pixel treatments to help with the residual scarring. As he began to see the results, he became more motivated to take care of his skin and his body. He started working out, eating right and lost a significant amount of weight. His mom reported he was more social and began performing better in school. He even went to his senior prom! I honestly believe that, if it wasn’t for the combination of treatments that he received at Sona, he would not have made all of these significant life improvements. It was such an amazing and satisfying transformation.

What is your favorite part of your job?

That is a tough question. I honestly love my job. I enjoy working with new clients every day but really love developing a trusting relationship with my existing clients. It is so rewarding to have clients come back time and time again and tell me how much they enjoy and appreciate our treatments and services; a lot of my clients feel like family. I love helping people achieve their desired outcomes by individualizing their treatment packages and services. I am so blessed to work with such an amazing and caring group of people. Everyone at Sona works as a team and I couldn’t be happier being a part of this organization.
