Rabbit owners in Pembrokeshire are being encouraged to hop into action to improve their pet’s health and welfare.

As part of Rabbit Awareness Week, which runs from 18 June to 26 June, the RSPCA Pembrokeshire Branch is working in partnership with several veterinary surgeries in the area to encourage rabbit owners to take advantage of free veterinary treatment.

All the owners have to do is to make an appointment with a participating vet during the week and the treatment – which could include neutering, vaccination and microchipping – can be carried out at a later date.

RSPCA branch support specialist for South West Wales Lorna Barker said: “This year for Rabbit Awareness Week we are delighted that several vets in Pembrokeshire have decided to team up with us to promote responsible ownership and help people improve their pet’s health.

“The vets involved are Kingston Veterinary Group in Pembroke and Milford Haven; The Oak Veterinary Surgery in Haverfordwest; Tenby Vets and Market Hall Vets in Kilgetty and All Pets Vets in Milford Haven.

“We advise owners to contact their local practice involved in this scheme – or look on the practice website – to see which procedures they are offering.

“There is no cost to the owner as the branch is subsidising this cost, so this is a great opportunity for rabbit owners to take advantage of.”
