Employees who are unable to get to work should contact their supervisors or follow normal departmental procedures to provide notification of an absence.
It is advisable in inclement weather to schedule additional travel time to reach the Flagstaff campus.
NAU faculty, staff and students can take several steps to stay informed when the weather affects university operations.
During inclement weather, the university may remain open for normal business, schedule a delayed start, cancel classes or cancel operations except for essential services on the Flagstaff campus.
The decision generally is made before 6 a.m., with the determination to cancel evening classes made between 3 and 4 p.m.
The university will send out an NAU Alert text message in the event that classes or university operations are on a delayed start or canceled.
Students, faculty and staff also are notified through email, Facebook, Twitter, the NAU home page, MyNAU, local media and the NAU Now Line.
NAU’s snow closure policy for employees is available online.
