Madshus racer Paal Golberg voted into FIS Athlete Commission, as one of two cross-country skiers on the board.
Cross-country skier Paal Golberg (NOR) is one of 13 members of the Athlete Commission in the International Ski Federation (FIS). The 25-year-old was voted into the Commission during the FIS annual meeting in Varna last week.
The Commission consists of two athletes from each cross-country, freestyle and snowboard, four athletes from alpine skiing and one from Nordic Combined. The members will serve on the FIS Athlete Commission for two years, from 2015 to 2017.
“It’s an honor to be asked to serve on this committee, and it will be a great opportunity to learn more about how the FIS system work at this level. I’m very excited to contribute to bring the sport forward,” Golberg said after being appointed to the Commission.
“This position is also a good experience to put on my resume when I’m applying for jobs outside the National team in the future,” Golberg adds.
Madshus racers serve on several important boards at the high level of sports governance. Last year, Madshus biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (NOR) was voted into the Athlete Commission for the International Olympic Committee, an eight-year term. Read more
