The Hiram College cross country teams competed at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Allegheny (Pa.) College in Meadville, Pa.  The Terrier men placed 10th and the women were ninth.

The Hiram men ended the event with 330 team points to place 10th of 10 teams.  Wabash (Ind.) College captured the championship with 30 points and was followed by host school Allegheny (Pa.) in second with 46 points.  Rounding out the top three teams was The College of Wooster with 95 points.

Invdividually, Hiram was paced by senior Tomoyuki Fujimoto (Mino, Japan) who posted a time of 31:52.9 and placed 98th overall out of 113 total runners.  Senior Dennis Kirimi (Nayiobi, Kenya) was second with a time of 34:44.3 and freshman Anthony Kerrigan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millenium) was the third Terrier to cross the finish line with a time of 35:27.0.  Senior Manpreet Grewal (Parma/Normandy) posted the fourth quickest time of 38:40.2 and junior Ricky Szasz (Middlefield/Cardinal) was fifth at 39:15.7.  Rounding out the Hiram competitors were sophomore Francis Sugita-Becraft (Supparo, Japan/Aloha) and freshman Bo Kang (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) with times of 41:05.7 and 45:55.4 respectively.

The Hiram women finished with a team total of 295 points to place ninth of nine teams.  Oberlin College won the team title with 45 points.  Ohio Wesleyan University was second with 57 points and Kenyon College was third with 86 points.

Hiram was led by senior Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) who completed the event in a time of 30:21.7 and finished 92nd out of 97 total runners.  SophomoreAshley Dillon (Orwell/Grand Valley) was second with a time of 30:38.5 and junior Patricia Bohls (Macedonia) was third with a mark of 31:48.6.  Senior Alexis Alvarado(Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) was the fourth Terrier to cross the finish line with a time of 33:09.2.  Junior Abigail Staysa (Columbia, Mo./Rockbridge) was fifth with a time of 33:30.5 and junior Sarah Dutton (Columbia, Md./Columbia) completed the list of competitors with a time of 33:43.2.

The cross country teams will compete at The College of Wooster Twilight Relays on Friday, Nov. 8 in Wooster.  The first race is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
