The Gonzaga University Comprehensive Leadership Program’s Class of 2019.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University’s Comprehensive Leadership Program has selected its newest student cohort from the undergraduate class of 2019. After a selective admissions process that evaluated 137 applicants, 43 students were chosen.

“These students, with their numerous talents and wealth of experiences, will continue the tradition of studying leadership imbued with an intellectual and ethical fervor for the common good in an interdisciplinary, academic setting,” said Josh Armstrong, Ph.D., director of the program.

This new class includes musicians, athletes, student government leaders and academic scholars – all accomplished men and women who have gone beyond personal achievements with a commitment to serve their communities.

“Their breadth of service will foster excellent connections within their leadership growth,” Armstrong noted.

This class encompasses a wide geographic swath from the Midwest to the West Coast with students from Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

The new CLP class will pursue their academic endeavors in a diverse array of fields. The students represent Gonzaga’s College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and School of Nursing and Human Physiology. Their majors include art, biology, biochemistry, business administration, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science, economics, engineering management, finance, human physiology, international relations, mathematics, mechanical engineering, political science, psychology, and sociology.

“The interplay between their academic undertakings and leadership development promises to provide them with further insight and skills to utilize in their extracurricular endeavors at Gonzaga and their professional careers upon graduation,” Armstrong said. “The impressive backgrounds and leadership positions of this class are only the starting point of their years at Gonzaga and their careers to come. Over the next three years, they will be challenged in new ways to understand themselves, their world, and their role in being leaders for others.”

The CLP is a three-year program designed to offer students curricular and co-curricular learning opportunities to develop knowledge and skills for leadership.
