Now comes word that the Caped Crusader will soon be starring in his own animated LEGO film. Mark your bat-calendar for Friday, Feb. 10, 2017. That’s when the LEGO Batman hits movie screens!

Its cute, self-mocking humor made The LEGO Movie a huge hit, and the LEGO Batman movie is expected to deliver the same fun tone. Chris McKay, the editor of The LEGO Movie, will direct the LEGO Batman movie, which hasn’t been named yet.

The LEGO Movie earned a whopping $468 million at the box office. Based on the movie’s $60 million budget, the film was a huge financial success, clearing more than $400 million in pure profit.
Since Warner Bros. owns DC and the film rights for LEGO and Batman, and considering audience and fan reaction to the Batman scenes, a LEGO Batman movie was a no-brainer. There will also be a sequel for The LEGO Movie. Called The LEGO Movie Sequel, it will hit theaters May 18, 2018.
More LEGO Movie Spin-offs
If that’s not enough LEGO movie fun for you, fans will also be lining up for the spin-off Ninjago, which is due to arrive in theaters on September 22, 2017.
Ninjago is already eagerly expected by fans who can’t wait to see a LEGO version of a martial arts movie…one that’s complete with LEGO ninjas, samurai, warlords and sensei. And did we mention the vicious armies of Snake Men? Or that it’s already been indicated that there will be a Ninjago sequel released in 2018?
Ninjago! The name means LEGO martial arts action. Kicking and spinning its way into theaters in 2017.
And that’s just the LEGO movie forecast for the near future. Lots more sequels are being planned, as Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman announced. “These three films already in the pipeline are just the beginning of a creative and diverse animation slate that will be delighting audiences for years to come.” (Sounds like they’re going to need plenty of animators on hand to make animated films…)
The LEGO Movie made a half-billion dollars. Who knows how much a LEGO Batman movie will earn?
