NEW YORK, NY – 9/6/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Dr. Patricia Ann Broderick, Medical Professor in Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience at The City University of New York School of Medicine, Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College,  Doctoral Faculty in Biology (Neuroscience) at the CUNY Graduate School, and  Adjunct Professor in Neurology & Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NYU Langone Medical Center, was selected as “Top Professor & Scientist of the Year” for 2016-2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

“Unique, extraordinary, pure genius and out of the box” are just some of the words that first come to mind when describing Dr. Patricia Ann Broderick.  Dr. Broderick is in a class of her own and we are honored to have her with our organization as our “Top Professor and Scientist of the Year.”  She has been a true pioneer in the medical industry with her dynamic results-driven leadership, tremendous foresight, extraordinary knowledge and countless accomplishments; she is a pure visionary of her time.  With over 30 years of professional experience as a Professor, Scientist, Author, Researcher, Lecturer, and Inventor, there is nothing that Dr. Patricia Ann Broderick cannot achieve.

With all that Dr. Patricia Ann Broderick has accomplished, it is difficult to have to streamline it down into a single press release.  Among her long list of professional achievements, Dr. Broderick is the inventor of the trademarked and patented BRODERICK PROBE® biosensors and related biotechnologies. The BRODERICK PROBE®, named for her father, is a diagnostic biomedical device that sends neurotransmitter images in real time from the brain during live movement, and is able to video track the brain in order to individually and uniquely designs a patient’s treatment. This brilliant invention has become an essential tool in the study of treatment options for neurological degenerative diseases and drug addictions. The probe uses a series of biosensors which Dr. Broderick also invented, developed, patented and trademarked; this unique type of LIVE IMAGING is named Neuromolecular Imaging (NMI).  She also established the Broderick Brain Foundation in order to fund training for healthcare and educational professionals as well as students in their quest to discover how the brain works.

An extensively educated individual who utilizes both hemispheres of her brain, Dr. Patricia Broderick earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College, graduating Magna Cum Laude and then earned a Master of Science Degree in Biology from Fordham University.  In 1979 she received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from St. John’s University and also completed Postdoctoral and Research Associate work at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Cornell University Medical School. She began her career as a Senior Scientist at USV Pharmaceutical (1979-1982), before becoming Scientific Consultant and Research Investigator at Pharmacia Upjohn Pharmaceuticals Company (1982-1988). She then took the position that she has held for the last 30 years as Medical Professor in Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience at City University of New York School of Medicine, the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College. Dr. Broderick is in the process of finishing her book, Neuroimaging, Nanosensing Biochemistry in the Brain, and will be published by Pan Stanford Publishing Pte Ltd., Singapore. She continues her work in the universities serves as a keynote speaker and holds editorial appointments on a global scale.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Patricia Ann Broderick has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.  She was the recipient of the Thomas Aquinas College, New York, Magna Cum Laude, Teacher Leadership Award; New York University, Research Fellowship; Nathan Kline Psychiatric Institute, Teaching Fellowship; St. John’s University, Rho Chi National Pharmaceutical Honor Society; St. John’s University, Milton Rosenbaum Award from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center; the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Advanced Biomedical Studies Certificate; City College of New York, Faculty Senate Committee on Research and Publication Award; Association of Women in Science, Outstanding Woman Scientist Award; and Sigma Xi Research Honor Society.  In 2014 Named Top Industry Expert by the National Association of Distinguished Professors; In 2015 named Outstanding Professional of the Year with International Who’s Who and recipient of the Faculty Row Award; In 2016 Pinnacle Awardee by Continental Who’s Who; “Professional Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women; will be featured in the forthcoming Women of Distinction Magazine, and selected as “Top Scientist & Professor of the Year” for 2016 by the International Association of Top Professionals.

Aside from her extraordinary career, numerous publications, chapters and patents, Dr. Patricia Ann Broderick is also one of the most sought-after speakers, lecturers and symposium leaders throughout the country.  She has been an invited speaker at the International Congress and Exhibition on Biosensors and Bioelectronics: Analyzing Novel Approaches to Biosensors and Bioelectronics, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She is active in numerous organizations as a member of: The Society for Neuroscience; the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapies; the Association for Women in Science; the Electrochemical Society; and the American Epilepsy Society. Additionally, she is a Member of the Board, Sensors; Member of the Board, Biosensors (Basel, Switzerland and Beijing, China), The Journal of Neural Transmission; Member of the Board and Field Editor (Heidelberg, Germany), The Journal of Caffeine Research; former Member of the Board, Editor-in-Chief (New York, USA), The Journal of Biochips and Tissue Chips; Member of the Board and Editor-in-Chief (Henderson, Nevada, USA), Advisory Board, de Gruyters Open Access Chemical Sensors; Member of the Editorial Board, and E Chronicon Neurology and E Chronicon Pharmacology and Toxicology.
