IndexBox Marketing has just published a new report “U.S. Pump And Pumping Equipment Market. Analysis And Forecast to 2020”

The U.S. dominates in global imports of pumps and pumping equipment, accounting for a 17% share (based on USD). It was followed by China (7.2%), Germany (6.8%), and Canada (5.1%). In 2015, U.S. pump and pumping equipment imports totaled 7,855 million USD, which was 849 million USD (10%) less than the year before.

A significant drop in 2009 was followed by steady growth over the next three years. Imports relatively stabilized in 2013-2015, with the exception of a short-term hike in 2014.

In 2011, U.S. pump and pumping equipment imports ran far ahead of the pre-recession imports level of 2007.

Since the United States is the leading importer in the world, and imports, although slowed, overall maintain a weak upward trend, the U.S. remains one of the most attractive destinations for overseas suppliers.

In 2015, China (1,983 million USD), Mexico (1,170 million USD), and Germany (904 million USD) were the main suppliers of pump and pumping equipment into the U.S., together comprising 51% of U.S. imports. Moreover, Mexico (+15.7% per year) and China (+9.4% per year) had the highest growth rates of imports between 2007 and 2015. Mexico and China strengthened their positions in the U.S. import structure, while the shares of the other countries were reduced throughout the analysed period.

From 2007 to 2015, the U.S. was a net importer of pumps and pumping equipment. Net U.S. imports of pumps and pumping equipment have shown mixed trends from 2008 to 2015. The sharp drop of net imports in 2009 was succeeded by a recovery of growth. Net U.S. imports were relatively stable over the two years that followed, however, they decreased again in 2012. In 2015, the industry reached a significant trade deficit of 697 million USD.
