FridayMarket.com, a premiere online classifieds site, has expanded its listings in an effort to serve the needs of expatriates living in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Arab countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The site is thriving. In “Properties for Rent,” for example, the site lists hundreds of flats, houses and rooms for rent in the UAE alone. Site users can narrow their search using parameters such as number of rooms, fully or non-furnished and price range. The site also includes shops for rent.
The used merchandise section offers mobile phones, cameras, laptops, computers, computer peripherals, kitchen appliances, power inverters and generators, music systems, office equipment, tools, TVs, DVDs and video games. The company is adding new categories based on user interest.
The car section of the site showcases many high-end cars as well as more affordable models. The Dubai site offers an Audi A6 3.2 with 117,000 KM for 24,500 AED, for example. Or, site visitors can check out a 2008 “Lady Driven” Volkswagen Golf for 12,000 AED. Used car shoppers on FridayMarket.com can search by model year and make, with presets to look for Honda, GMC, Ford and so forth. They can search by price range. And, site visitors can post that they are looking to buy a car or sell. This way, expatriates can be proactive and notify potential sellers of their car buying needs.
Job listings run the gamut of employment, with many professional positions available for consideration. Dubai’s site listed, for example, a Speech Therapist who is willing to be based in Abu Dhabi and a Female Radiographer with HAAD for a large healthcare provider in the UAE. Job categories include accounting, architecture and engineering, art and design, banking and finance, catering, construction, education and training, freelance, HR, maintenance and installation, management, oil and gas, retail, travel and media and marketing.
