Cape Tonians are spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting the perfect wedding venue and many brides may feel overwhelmed when starting the search for their dream day. There are so many different types of venues – wine estates, beaches, farms, gardens, banquet halls and churches – and it’s difficult to know what you want, especially when you are planning so far in advance like most brides! We are sharing a few of our favourite venues with you in the hope that it makes your planning just a little easier.

10. Strandkombuis – Yzerfontein

Strandkombuis boasts an open-air venue right on the beach in the coastal town of Yzerfontein on the West Coast. The venue is situated on a wooden deck and a few steps lead right down to the beach. The happy couple can choose to get married on the deck or on the beach if they prefer the sand between their toes whilst they say their “I do’s”.

The venue has a permanent roof on one half and a white tent covering the other half with a solid wall at the back which protects from the strong Cape winds. The style of the venue is rustic and beachy but it still has an upmarket aspect. Beautiful views of the ocean can be seen from the wooden tables and benches on the deck. The venue offers a fully stocked bar and the west coast buffet is highly rated. If you love the sun, the sea and all things rustic, then Strandkombuis is your ideal wedding venue.

9. The Farmhouse Hotel – Langebaan

The Farmhouse Hotel is situated in Langebaan up the West Coast and overlooks the tranquil Langebaan lagoon. The venue offers guests an authentic coastal farmstead experience.

The Breakfast Room is the perfect spot to host an intimate wedding. The bright, airy venue can accommodate 60 guests and has a veranda with beautiful views of the ocean. The Celebration Area can host up to 50 guests and has spectacular views of the lagoon.

The Panorama Restaurant is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Supper and focuses on traditional cuisine with a variety of seafood.

8. Quentin at Oakhurst – Hout Bay

Quentin at Oakhurst is located on one of the original Hout Bay farms in the upper regions of the Hout Bay valley. The farm is nestled between two rivers and used to provide the valley’s residents with much nourishment many years ago.

The old barn is the heart of the restaurant and has been renovated recently. It is a romantic space; over-sized dining tables, oak chairs, white linen and giant candelabras fill the restaurant and glittering chandeliers hang from the ceiling. A lounge and bar area make great spots for pre-drinks.

7. Solms Delta – Franschhoek

Solms-Delta is a hidden gem in Franshhoek in the Cape Winelands. As you enter the estate, there is a small chapel, perfect for intimate weddings. A beautiful lawn is available where the wine tasting normally takes place and this can be used for the ceremony or a reception under a tent. This space has gorgeous views of the vineyards. On the other side of the estate, lies the Fyndraai Restaurant, a stunning glass venue, recently built, with amazing views of the Franschhoek Mountains. The restaurant specialises in Cape Cuisine.

But Solms-Delta has plenty more to offer. Beyond the vineyards, lies a magical forest with many potential ceremony venues throughout the space. The happy couple can choose to say their vows on the edge of a lake or on the small island in the middle of the lake with the gentle sounds of a bamboo forest in the background. Another ceremony option is a small clearing near a river under one of many tall trees. There are endless photo opportunities at Solms-Delta and plenty of dining options. The venue can even organise picnic baskets for your guests to enjoy in the forest.

Guests can choose to stroll through the vineyards to your venue or they can hop aboard the farm tractor for a fun ride. A wedding at Solms-Delta will most certainly be one to remember.

6. Jonkershuis – Constantia

Jonkershuis is located inside the historic Groot Constantia Wine Estate and is loved by many for the gorgeous oak trees, beautiful views and delicious cuisine.
