A POCKETFUL OF RHYMES, FRIDAY JULY 12 – SUNDAY JULY 21

 

Crescent City Lights Youth Theater in partnership with NORDC is proud to open its 20th season of summer musicals performed by all-children casts with A Pocketful of Rhymes, which runs Friday, July 12  - Sunday, July 21.



A Pocketful of Rhymes is the Broadway hit musical from the 80’s starring the world’s first Lady of Rhyme – Mother Goose. The show brings classic nursery rhymes to life from the Little Boy Blue to the Cat and the Fiddle to a high stepping hoe-down Yankee Doodle Dandy. All performances feature a live 4-piece band of New Orleans professional musicians including Jesse Reeks, David Pulphus and Curtis Pierre.

Formed in 1993, Crescent City Lights Youth Theater has instilled a love of performing in thousands of children through over 40 productions. A Pocketful of Rhymes features 14 children from across the Greater New Orleans Area.

 

The leading role of Mother Goose is performed by Lindsey Reynolds who began with Crescent City Lights Youth Theater at the age of 7 and is now a voice student at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. The lead singers for A Pocketful of Rhymes include: Sean-Michael Bruno, Rachel Bonura, Eli Zitler, Mimi Bernard, Mia Rodriguez and Michael Brown. Ensemble members include: Jillian Bruno, Alexis Alexis, Elise Bourg, Aniya Fields, Imani Gabriel, Luke Harris and Christopher Love .

 

The NORDC/CCLYT production staff includes Kim Barnard, director/ choreographer (the Disney Imagination Movers’ TV series choreography); Julie Condy, producing director/music director; Katie Schmidt, costumer;  Edward R. Cox, scenic designer; and Mark Montalbano, lighting designer.  All performances are accompanied by a live band with Jesse Reeks (piano), Curtis Pierre (percussion), Simon Lott (drums) and David Pulphus (bass).

 

Performance Times: Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.

All Crescent City Lights Youth Theater performances are held at the NORD Ty Tracy Theatre on the 1st Floor of Gallier Hall, 545 St. Charles Ave. The theater entrance is on Lafayette Street. Advance tickets are available for $15 at www.crescentcitylights.org.
