Weird Al is known for punny parodies of pop tunes, but it turns out the comic singer also has a big heart: He revealed he donated all of the proceeds from “Perform This Way,” his spoof on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” to HRC.
In a recent interview with podcaster Jeff for Justice, Al talks about his charitable contribution:
“Born This Way” is such a positive song I felt this bad about doing a parody of it and I wanted to show that my heart was in the right place. I wasn’t making fun of the cause, or concept, or anything like that. It was all in good fun and I thought that by donating to the HRC that would show that it was all in good fun.
What a nice guy. I guess I don’t have to pretend like I don’t know every word of ”Yoda” anymore.
