Finalists for the 28th Annual Lambda Literary Award have been announced, after a record-breaking 933 submissions from more than 300 submissions from major mainstream publishing houses, independent presses and on-demand services.

Nominees this year include Miranda July’s novel The First Bad Man, Brad Gooch’s Smash Cut and Carrie Brownstein’s Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl.
Arsham Parsi, who was honored at the 2015 Logo Trailblazer Honors, was nominated for his memoir, Exiled for Love: The Journey of an Iranian Queer Activist.

The awards not only elevate LGBT literature, says Lambda Literary Board President KG MacGregor. “[they] elevate the lives of those who find themselves authentically portrayed in our stories.”
