Responsibilities

Shipping Manager

The Shipping Manager is responsible for managing all activities related to Fulfillment\. He/she is responsible for developing a staff to support these activities and to meet the goals of the Distribution Center\. He/she delegates work and responsibilities to the Fulfillment Supervisors and ensures they are adhering to established standards\. He/she provides assistance to other managers as needed\.

**JOB COMPLEXITY**

The Distribution Center processes a high volume of goods and styles\. This position must actively interface and coordinate with Fulfillment, Receiving, Inventory Control, QC and Sales/Dealer Services\. He/she also collaborates with the Brand Representatives to resolve outbound shipment problems\. He/she operates within diversified procedures and specialized standards, where different situations require a search for solutions and creative problem solving\. He/she works with the Operations Manager on standardizing processes and updating procedures as necessary\. He/she also works with the Operations Manager on tactical plans and decisions with consideration to cost versus benefit\. The Outbound Operations Manager then presents these plans to the Director of Distribution prior to implementation\.

Major Duties

+ Maintains the necessary staffing to accomplish the Distribution Center’s goals\. Is proactive in requesting temporary help as needed, staying within budget guidelines unless otherwise approved by the Director
+ Plans and analyzes the work load on a daily basis, communicating with other managers and floor supervisors the needs for the day in order meet DC goals
+ Disseminates information to the floor staff in a daily, 5 minute meeting at the start of the work shift
+ Trains Fulfillment Supervisors to ensure they understand all aspects of their respective areas of responsibility and can effectively train and supervise Distribution Associates
+ Provide the necessary training and motivation for new Distribution Associates to do their jobs accurately and efficiently
+ Works with other departments to cross train associates in order to maximize resources
+ Delegates work evenly and fairly between the Fulfillment Supervisors and adjusts staff accordingly
+ Ensures compliance of all approved vender routing guides to avoid vendor charge backs\. Reviews and updates routing guides as necessary
+ Researched all vendor chargebacks and provides the necessary information to reverse these chargebacks
+ Coordinates the processing of customers requiring VAS services to ensure accurate and timely completion of orders
+ Reviews, assesses and improves procedures to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely fulfillment of orders
+ Communicates performance standards to associates and assesses performance, making recommendations for changes to the Operations Manager
+ Work with the Inventory Supervisor on daily priorities including case pull and trouble tickets
+ Monitors OPT reports on a daily basis to ensure turn times, for all Brands, are met
+ Works with Brand Representatives to resolve problems with aging or missing orders
+ Assesses shipper qualifications and analyzes transportation rates and routings to determine best carrier and mode of transportation for outgoing shipments
+ Packs and prepares paperwork for International shipments\. Coordinate the shipping of these orders with our corporate International department
+ Oversees the shipping of LTL and TL shipments, ensuring all paperwork, e\.g\. BOL, are filled out correctly
+ Checks shipping dock daily to make sure all shipments invoiced that day have been picked up by the carrier
+ Monitors the flow of paperwork from shipping to Invoicing for timely data entry
+ Responsible for closing down and securing the DC once all shipping and invoicing transactions are complete
+ Follows all safety procedures and immediately reports safety issues or infractions\.
+ Provides input and assist with the DC quarterly safety meetings
+ Writes and administers performance evaluations and counseling statements for fulfillment team members
+ Summarizes specific fulfillment related activities for management’s review as requested
+ Works closely with other managers to build a cohesive team focused on the efficient movement of product through the DC in a timely manner
+ Provides backup to various operations as necessary to meet DC goals
+ Performs the duties of the Fulfillment Supervisor or Key Accounts Supervisor as necessary
+ Performs the duties of a Distribution Associate as necessary
+ Must exude a willingness to work in any department in the DC as necessary
+ Must maintain a professional attitude at all times
+ Must maintain productivity standards at all times
+ Assists in the annual Physical Inventory counts

Qualifications

+ Minimum of 5 years management experience in distribution functions of a high volume Distribution Center
+ Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in receiving, shipping and inventory control
+ Minimum of 5 years of transportation and shipping logistics
+ Minimum of 5 years of personnel supervisory experience
+ Strong analytical skills
+ Strong problem solving skills
+ Strong workload planning and organizational skills
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
+ Ability to accurately work under stress with multiple deadlines, interruptions and requests from other departments
+ Proven ability to effectively manage a team of individuals
+ Proves ability to manage conflict and negotiate positive results
+ Experience with FedEx, UPS and USPS shipping systems
+ Experience in shipping via LTL carriers including associated paperwork
+ Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook \(including calendar functions\)
+ Familiar with information systems and WMS systems\. Experience with Porini ERP a plus\.
+ Experience working with customers who require Value Added Services, e\.g\. ticketing, hanging, etc\.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment
+ Flexibility in a changing work environment
+ Excellent attendance and punctuality is expected
+ Certification to drive various types of material handling equipment will be required
