These images show the horrendous conditions an animal charity worker left her pets to live in for ten years.

Dorothy Harland, 58, will not be allowed to keep animals for a decade after her three dogs and four cats were discovered in her filthy home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

The founder of Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) admitted five charges of animal neglect and as well as being handed a pet ban, will also have to pay £260 in court costs.

Police officers, who found her pets last December after being tipped off, said conditions were so bad they were unable to remain in the residence without wearing gas masks.

‘It was disgusting, it really was,’ RSPCA inspector Dave Holgate told Mail Online.

‘Someone who works with an animal charity should really know better.

‘Somebody working with animals knows what is right and what is wrong, and that is wrong.’

One of her dogs, Bruno, 16, had to be put down after having a stroke at the residence days before he was discovered.

Her other mutts Charlie, a German-Shepherd cross, and Jack have been rehomed along with her four cats – Dolly, Molly, Polly and Murphy.

Harland will be under a supervision order for one year and will have to complete 100 hours of community service.
