FIND THE SOUL; LIFT THE SPIRIT! IFEA Europe’s Annual Conference 2014.
Event on 2014-02-13 18:00:00

IFEA EUROPE's ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2014 goes behind-the-scenes at the world-famous CARNIVAL DE NICE, and explores how festivals and events become true city trademarks.  Featuring keynote presentations, workshops, and interesting social programmes, the Nice Conference 2014 is the time and place for festival organisers, city officials and researchers in the fields of tourism and culture to meet, learn, exchange ideas, and network.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The number of festivals and events in Europe is exploding. Cities that really stand out are those whose events are not just done for touristic purposes or for the sake of ”doing events", but where festivals are anchored in historical roots or are contemporary expressions of the soul of the city and the spirit of its citizens. The Main Conference shall expore such "city trademark" festivals; how they programme, uphold marketing strategies, secure funding, and engage participants and audiences. Pre-conference Master Classes are offered to newcomers to the event business and other attendees with particular interest in exploring the how-to's of the industry, and a special Researcher's Meeting and Workshop Stream will put festivals into an academic context, explore tourism trends and socio-economic aspects of events, and discuss trends in event mangement education.

Delegates shall have special seating for the FLOWER PARADE and the CARNIVAL PARADE at the world-famous Carnival of Nice, the CARNIVAL SANS FRONTIERES, as well as an opportunity to see the carnival float workshops. Optional pre- and post conference tour programmes are also offered, including a 2-day tour to the spectacular CARNIVAL in VIAREGGIO, Italy, with stops in Pisa and Monaco. Accompanying spouses are welcome to attend the social programmes listed in the programme (separate pay).
