This position is located in the National Centers for Environmental Prediction/NCEP Central Operations/ Production Management Branch. National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

**Duties include but are not limited to the following:**

* Respond to users, staff and management concerning system status and operational capabilities.

* Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve issues with product availability.

* Ensure all National Internet Dissemination System (NIDS) web farms function properly.

* Work in a help desk environment diagnosing and resolving customer reported problems.

* Determine the cause of problems between microcomputer hardware, system software or application software.

**To qualify for this Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210-09, position you must meet the Qualifications based on ONE of the following**:

A. Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or which provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. **- OR -**

B. Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal Service performing most of the following duties: working in a help desk environment; diagnosing and resolving customers reported problems; determining the case of problems between microcomputer hardware, system software or application software****and coordinate with teams to document information for programs and systems.

**- AND -** Possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies:
1._Attention to Detail_ - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (IT experience included documenting user requirements)
2._Customer Service_ - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (IT experience included studying and responding to client information security expectations)
3._Oral Communication_ - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (IT experience included expressing technical concerns, requirements or other information to a client)
4._Problem Solving_ - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. (IT experience included generating and evaluating IT security alternatives for action or client review)
