Entry Level Product EngineerJob Description: Product Engineer - Entry LevelScope of Responsibility:*Apply lean engineering principles to the entire product design cycle to develop robust automotive interior trim products. Products may include: Instrument Panels, Floor Consoles, Door Panels, Overhead Consoles, or Decorative Trim. Roles and Responsibilities:*Understand, document, and design product for Automotive OEM requirements including:*Determine and document design requirements*Utilize DFMEA methodology to identify product functions and failure modes*Prepare calculations that verify compliance to functional targets*Develop design verification plans*Oversee the drawing schedule to ensure drawing and models are released on time*Apply knowledge of plastic part design and injection-molding to design concepts. Lead design team in developing 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.*Work with suppliers to acquire part data, samples and quotes as necessary and own supplier relationship for engineering deliverables, including drawings, CAD models and appropriate analysis.*Apply Lean engineering tools to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.*Provide professional, clear, and concise technical support to both internal and external customers*Work effectively within a matrixed and team focused organization to proactively identify and address issues. *Effectively negotiate trade offs between product performance, cost, and timing.*Work with the design team to deliver product designs, drawings, and related engineering deliverables on time and within budget*Apply existing design knowledge and capture new knowledge using A3's and design sheets.*Identify and implement continuous product improvements*Apply Robust Engineering (Design for Six Sigma) principles in product design*Identify and address issue root cause using problem solving skills such as KT and 5-Why analysis. *Manage manufacturing plant interface to understand current production issues and how Engineering may lead or support closure.*Develop timelines to track and achieve Engineering deliverables. Engineering Development Program:*Select individuals can qualify for the Engineering Development Program which provides job rotations over the course of 2-3 years that expose the new engineer to major facets of our business. *Specific rotations will vary, but can include:*Phase 0 - Innovation*Phase 1 - Quoting*Phase 2-5 - Engineering Development*Phase 6 - Post Launch Engineering*Validation / Requirements Engineering*6 Sigma*CAD systems*CAE*Advanced Manufacturing*Manufacturing Operations*Advanced Quality*Generally individual assignments will be 9 months to 1 year in duration, allowing for 3 rotations before being assigned to a given Product area. *Participation is dependent upon the candidates qualifications and current business need.Qualifications: *BSME (or equivalent)*Intern or Co-Op work experience a plus*Plastics design and injection molding experience a plus*Demonstrates a high degree of integrity*Shows respect for others*Effective communication skills in a team environment*Customer focused*Drives for results*Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.l
