*This position is located with the Billings Area Indian Health Service, Crow Service Unit, Crow/Northern Cheyenne Hospital in Crow Agency, Montana. The incumbent will be a licensed, Doctoral-level Clinical*_Psychologist with prescriptive privildges supervising the Behavioral Health Department. This position serves as a member of the Medical Staff reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital._

* **Primary Care/Health Promotion Consultant:** Perform assessment and brief treatment for a wide range of psychological and behavioral health disorders using a variety of therapy modalities.
* **Psychiatric Medication Management:** Provide consultation services for psychotropic medications.
* **Clinical Psychologist - Medical Program Development:** Ensure adequate operation, consistent management, and on-going development of the Clinical Psychologist – Medical Program.
* **Indirect patient care, case management, and community/patient support:** Provide indirect patient care through telephonic intervention, consultation with collateral resources, and referral to specialty services/external resources.

**_BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):_**

*Degree:* major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:

*Clinical psychology:* For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.

*In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-*

**_MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:_**

**GS-14:** _One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level._

**Specialized Experience for the GS-14 level, you must have one year of experience (equivalent to the GS-13) that included duties such as:** Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy on an acute and situation-specific basis utilizing a wide range of treatment techniques to meet the needs of the service unit population. Provide evaluation and initial treatment in complex cases involving the probability of mental illness, neuropsychological, and behavioral aspects of chronic disease, development disability, and substance abuse and abuse disorders. Work with primary care provider to monitor and manage "high-utilization", "at risk", and "chronic" patients. Support primary care provider decisions and recommendations by reinforcing/elaborating on provider-patient interventions. Conduct in-depth evaluation and diagnosis of psychiatric needs of patients, formulate and implement plan of care, prescribe medications, and consult with other health care providers and referrals. Provide psychological evaluation, crisis intervention, and suicide assessments. Provide outpatient psychotherapy treatment to individual, group and family psychotherapy. Serve as fact witness in civil cases involving diminished capacity and cases of civil commitment. Provide consultation services for psychotropic medications. May prescribe psychotropic drugs within clinical specialty and according to medical staff privileges in collaboration with staff physicians and in accordance with IHS and/or licensure requirements. Present community education in a wide variety of health topics utilizing health care background and psychological expertise. Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities, including audits, chart reviews, development of review criteria, development of plans for improving performance and evaluation of effectiveness of actions in improving performance. Attend Medical Staff meetings, training sessions, and planning and problem solving sessions. Collaborate with tribal health programs, suicide prevention, law enforcement, vocation rehabilitation, chemical dependency programs, Tribal Social Services, BIA Social Services, Tribal Court and community mental health center programs to develop continuity of patient care.

**_SUPERVISORY OR MANAGERIAL ABILITIES:_**
