Description As a Senior Wealth Strategist, you partner with Financial Advisors (FAs) to proactively engage Ultra High Net Worth clients and prospects in dialogue surrounding advanced wealth transfer and philanthropic strategies, and the integration of those strategies with their investment portfolios. Key Responsibilities:
• Enhance the client acquisition, advisement and retention process by contributing sophisticated intellectual capital related to estate planning, wealth transfer and philanthropic planning
• Educate FAs in the areas of wealth planning, estate and financial planning
• Articulate a concise message to both the client and UBS financial advisor, as an advice provider in a comprehensive wealth planning context
• Prepare comprehensive analysis and review of a client's estate and wealth transfer planning, educating clients on opportunities for additional planning, and including a review of estate documents and structures (i.e. Wills, Trusts, Powers-of-Attorney, Health Care Directives, Pre-nuptials, Partnership Agreements, ILITs)
• Hands-on development of sophisticated financial plans including: the net worth, current cash flows (financial independence and survivor), alternate cash flows and estate flows
• Serve as a member of UBS's in-house "think-tank," by creating timely articles on estate and wealth transfer planning for internal and external publications and participating in speaking engagements
• Collaborate with other business groups within UBS Wealth Management US to provide a consistent internal client experience
• Participate in external activities that raise the profile of UBS Wealth Management in the ultra-high net worth market, particularly among attorneys and accountants as centers of influence
• Consult with FAs and educate clients on current estate planning issues
• Educate FAs on the use of the UBS Financial Planning Platform
• Leverage additional resources such as the UBS Attorney and Life Insurance Network
• Strategize with FAs on how to utilize UBS' expertise and capabilities to provide value in every aspect of a client's financial life
• Where appropriate bring client case opportunities to the other Consultants and product areas of the firm (i.e., Banking Consultants and Portfolio Strategy Consultants, UBS Trust Company, the Global Family Office group)
• Coordinate the sharing of best practices and key sales information in close cooperation with Consultants around the country
• Manage T&E to ensure expenditures stay within guidelines
• Bring significant experience working with ultra high net worth clients to the role
• Stay current on relevant tax law changes and communicate those changes to FAs and UBS as a whole
Basic Qualifications:
• JD, LLM or CPA required.
• 5-8 years minimum at a law firm in private practice or in an accounting firm; 10 years industry experience or work related experience.
• MS Office and NumberCruncher, NaviPlan, WealthTech a plus
• Expertise, skills and experience with the following areas, techniques and strategies are required: personal income, estate, gift, trust, and partnership tax disciplines, advanced wealth transfer planning techniques such as Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts, Qualified Personal Residence Trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, Defective Grantor Trusts, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, Private Foundations, Generation Skipping Transfer Tax, review of investment portfolio for asset allocation, planning with concentrated stock positions, incentive benefits, non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options, and restricted stock
• Technical expertise specific to the area of Wealth Management, and highly sophisticated Estate and Financial Planning strategies
• Technical expertise in the areas of concentrated equity position
