The Engineering Manager provides direction of all commercial and non-commercial projects within the Plymouth site. This includes driving the New Product Development process to maximize overall design for manufacturability and gross margin, leading the Business Development process to complete accurate and timely diligence and integration, owning significant cost reduction projects that provide recurring improvements in safety, quality, compliance, service, and cost, providing overall technical strategy to achieve long term goals, create project portfolios that ensure year on year goals are reliably met for safety, quality, compliance, service, and cost, implementing lean six sigma processes to maximize profitable growth, providing premier customer service, and developing a strong workforce. WHAT IS THE WORK YOU WILL BE DOING? Responsible for all aspects of manufacturing engineering to include employee development, performance management, budget planning, goal alignment, project execution, and policy deployment. Collaborate on all aspects of New Product Development (NPD) and Business Development (BD) to include employee development, performance management, budget planning, goal alignment, project execution, and policy deployment. Responsible for aspects of BD diligence processes including site and process review, standard cost development, project plan design, project leadership, operations leadership. Responsible for achievement of all Operations, NPD and BD project goals, including, but not limited to: safety, quality, compliance, staffing, materials, equipment design, process design, service levels, and quality specifications in accordance with core metrics. Provides operational, technical, and strategic leadership of cross-functional teams in operations, engineering, and R.and.D. Drives product cost improvements using lean six sigma tools and ensures a culture of continuous improvement is implemented and sustained. Partner with cross-functional teams, including Research .and. Development, Business Development, Process Development, Planning and Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality, to achieve objectives. Participates in the development of site strategy with a multi-year perspective, including the anticipation of potential issues, development of mitigation plans, process and management system design, and solution implementation Provides effective change management and leadership. Comply with applicable FDA, international regulatory laws/standards, OSHA, EPA and Medtronics Guide to Business Conduct. DO YOU HAVE THESE EXPERIENCES OR SKILLS? Medical device manufacturing experience Demonstrated ability in executing lean manufacturing Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills Demonstrated problem analysis and problem solving skills Demonstrated ability to proactively and collaboratively lead a function with a balance of planning, analytical, and execution skills Commitment to a culture of continuous improvement New Product Development and/or Business Development Experience DO YOU HAVE THESE PROFESSIONAL OR ACADEMIC CERTIFICATIONS? Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required, Masters Degree preferred 10 years of technical/manufacturing experience Minimum of 2 years of increasing supervisory and managerial experience Medical device production site transfer experience Experience in creation of new technologies and process Vertical integration experience Together Medtronic and Covidien are working to improve
