*POSITION SUMMARY:*

The Nuclear-Mechanical Design Engineer will be a member of the Reactor Module Group. The Reactor Module Group generates the technical requirements for the modular ALWR nuclear steam supply system. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, the Reactor Module Group specifies the design parameters associated with the reactor pressure vessel, pressurizer, steam generator, reactor vessel internals, containment pressure vessel, control rod drive mechanisms, component supports and restraints, and the associated connecting piping in addition to providing the supporting applied mechanics analyses (encompassing both fluid and solid mechanics) in accordance with theASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III and applicable Nucelar Regulatory Requirements .

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*

1. Generate technical requirements for the modular ALWR nuclear steam supply system under the guidance of senior personnel.

2. Develop design parameters associated with the reactor pressure vessel, pressurizer, steam generator, reactor vessel internals, containment pressure vessel, component supports, and control rod drive mechanisms.

3. Perform supporting applied mechanics analyses (fluid and solid mechanics) utilizing symbolic math software and other computer aided engineering tools.

4. Perform engineering calculations consistent with the requirements defined in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III.

5. Prepare and review engineering specifications, drawings, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the reactor coolant system and nuclear steam supply system.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.
