L-3 National Security Solutions has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Java Developer to provide cutting edge services within the Intelligence Community!
This is a unique position for a dynamic, professional, team-oriented, self-motivated experienced software engineer. The selected candidate would be a full-time, senior-level development-operations (dev-ops) engineer on the Customers unstructured ingestion team, which maintains the legacy system while developing the new replacement ingestion system to support the customers 24x7 ingestion of informational objects (date, multimedia) and several high-vis initiatives. The selected candidate would be expected to play the role of XML expert on the richly-talented data ingestion team.
Duties:
• Develop, analyze, and implement complex requirements to develop a new high-volume ingestion system for unstructured data such as documents and multimedia objects (pictures, video, etc.)
• Develop, analyze, and implement software interfac3es and XML-formatted rules for processing this data on various platforms, for various repositories
• Analyze and translate detailed designs or customer requirements from either verbal or written form into computer software
• Participate directly in the testing, debugging, and modification of computer software to produce the required product within the specified time frame
• Prepare required software documentation and artifacts, including both program-level and user-level documentation or briefings for interfacing systems and mission customers
• Develop and/or follow technical guidance in contemporary software engineering techniques, including the use of Agile programming methodology, writing user stories, and using automated testing or monitoring tools
• Implement, evaluate, and/or integrate open source and COTS packages, including writing customer code to integrate products
• Handle O&M duties on an as-needed basis, including carrying a pager on a rotational basis
Clearance - Current TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Mandatory:
• Operate with little or no supervision and work effectively with many other developers,
architects, and customers
• We are looking for someone who can deliver quality, appropriate new code while operating with limited guidance and often vague requirements
• Experience as a software or systems engineer
• Experience programming Java-based solutions for data-and I/O-related requirements or back-end systems
• Experience working with and developing code in UNIX or Linux Operating Systems
• Strong working knowledge of a shell scripting language, e.g. C shell or BASH or PERL
• Familiarity with application Servers (HTTP Servers) -BEA WebLogic, Apache/Tomcat
• Familiarity with Internet Protocols -HTTP/S, FTP, SMTP.**Experience with tools such as
Subversion or CVS, Eclipse or JBuilder, and wikis and blogs
• Strong background with open source Java-based products such as Cruise Control, JUnit, Apache, etc
• Knowledge of Agile a d test-driven development practices
• An ability to work outside of prime time business hours to support emergency production issues and routine system deployments
• Expert-level familiarity with XML and Java is essential

• Experience with C or C# or any other object-oriented language (in addition to Java)
• SOA development
• Experience with or an understanding of JMS, Web Services, SOAP, REST concepts, JNDI,
relational databases and text parsing
• Experience with deployed production systems with the Customer
• Prior experience with enterprise data ingestion and ETL within other organizations, including data cataloging, data tracking, how ingestion interacts with data layer and interfacing applications, and data recall processing
• Experience providing development support to enterprise class applications with multiple system interfaces
• Experience with maintaining WIKls, BLOGs, SharePoint sites, or any associated media items
Education –Bachelors Degree in Computer or equivalent experience.
