Organizational Requirements Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing plus two year of nursing experience, OR, Associates degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing plus four years of nursing experience, OR, Nursing diploma (three year program) plus three years of nursing experience. Departmental Requirements/Preferences As a chemotherapy nurse she will review and mix chemotherapy agents here in our office as that is within the scope of her license. All R.N's do not do this and she has a vast amount of prior experience in this component. Constant surveillance of lab results that would affect the protocol that the patient is currently receiving is required. The physician depends on the "team effort" for each and every patient, and appreciates the knowledge and expertise of the R.N's that will be mixing and administering the chemotherapy. The years of experience that this candidate has speaks volumes to the positive. As mixing chemotherapy REQUIRES 6 months administration experience, this position would require that experience already be met. The chemotherapy charges are entered into the system by the R.N. and those must be correct. Inventory of all chemotherapy agents must be maintained. We also have a lab in our office where CBC's are drawn and the test is preformed, this is also a skill that is required to meet our patient's needs. As we do not send patient's out for the labs that we can draw in our office. By having this lab in our office certain State regulations have to be met and meeting those requirements will be part of her job duties on a daily basis. Because of this position's specific guidelines a R.N. from any other area cannot be "pulled" and meet the required functions. We are a self- maintained unit Salary Range Commensurate with experience This position works with Houston Independent School District (H.I.S.D.) students.
