## Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Employer Relations and Alumni Engagement will support the mission of the Center for Career Development (CCD) which is to Educate, Connect, and Empower students to pursue their professional goals. The Assistant Director is responsible for working directly with employers and alumni in all aspects of campus and off campus recruiting.

The Assistant Director, Employer Relations and Alumni Engagement will develop and maintain relationships with Rice recruiters, alumni, parents and friends of Rice to create opportunities for Rice students through internships and full time positions, externships, and mentoring opportunities. This position will manage recruiting programs, including all aspects of the on-campus recruiting process, such as campus interview schedules, job postings and company information sessions, career expos. He/she will assist employers with developing effective recruiting and marketing strategies unique to their needs. This position will use reporting, metrics, and data to assess effectiveness of employer relations goals and activities.

## Physical Demands

Must be able to move about the campus to meet with students, faculty, and staff. Sit at a computer up to eight hours a day. Minor equipment set up as necessary for workshops and other events.

## Working Conditions

Very busy office with high traffic volume. Work weekends and evenings on a periodic monthly basis during the academic school year depending on needs. May require extended working hours, including Saturdays and Sundays. Occasional travel to conferences or employment treks.

## Description of Job Duty

* Build and manage relationships with employers and recruiters from a wide range of industries and organizations by ensuring high levels of satisfaction with the campus recruitment process, working with employers to develop customized recruitment strategies to target the desired student population, identifying new and/or existing initiatives to reach the target audience and serve as a liaison to student groups.

* Supervises recruiting activities for internships,externships, and full-time positions, including information sessions and campus interviews.

* Consultations with recruiters to discuss recruiting objectives and strategies, as well as programs and services offered to recruiters. Address recruiter concerns and work to resolve any employer-specific issues.

* Help coordinate and execute career expos, Recruiter Chili Cook-Off & Career Carnival, and other CCD events.

* Assist with developing and maintaining systems to include the database, website, and NACELink; serves as liaison between department and NACELink.

* Maintain externship, internship, and full-time job listings, recruiter schedules, detailed employer information and recruiting forms and reports in the database.

* Track progress using data, reports, and metrics and develop new outreach, training or approaches as needed.

Alumni Engagement

## Description of Job Duty

* Leverage the network of Rice alumni, parents and friends of Rice to create opportunities for Rice students through internships and full time positions, externships, and mentoring opportunities.

* Manage the Owl Edge Externship Program – recruit hosts and students, marketing, student preparation, matching and communications.

* Develop strategic plan to increase the number and variety of alumni engagements, and the number of students who participate in alumni programs and mentoring.

* Closely partner with Development and Alumni Relations to facilitate and supplement new and existing alumni programs.

* Plan and manage events and programming designed to connect students with alumni.

* Manage the OWL Career Mentor Network: build, manage and maintain relationships with alumni, parents, recruiters and friends of Rice who are willing to be a resource to Rice students.

* Manage LinkedIn group of 2000+ mentors and students by recruiting mentors and students to join the group and facilitating conversations and connections within the group.

* Serve as the first point of contact for alumni who engage with the CCD, as a job seeker, employer or volunteer.

## Description of Job Duty

* Represent CCD on various committees and work groups, and act on behalf of the Director or Associate Director(s) as requested.

* Assist Director, Associate Director, and/or other CCD staff in projects or filling in where needed during periodic workflow constraints.

* Rotate as needed for student walk in hours.

* Maintain relationships with academic departments, collaborative offices, and residential college constituencies.

* May be assigned or required to perform additional duties to the benefit of the department or University.
