The vacancy is located inPsychology Departmentof Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, Jackson, LA. ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Psychologist 1 or 2, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum annual salary for the Psychologist 2 is $86,382.00. Special Entrance Rate:
Psychologist 1 $1,661.60/Biweekly $20.77/Hourly

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A doctoral degree in psychology from any regional accredited university or other institution of higher learning offering a full-time doctoral course of study in psychology that is approved by the board.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
A Louisiana license to practice psychology obtained prior to August of 1966 may be substituted for the doctoral degree.

NOTE:Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Function of Work:
To improve the functioning of individual clients and/or organizations involving the limited application of psychological principles and techniques within one or more of the following functional areas: direct services; consultation; training; research. Services provided vary depending upon specific organizational needs and generally fall into one of the major psychological subject matter specializations.

Level of Work:

Supervision Received:
Clinical supervision is received from a licensed psychologist. Close administrative supervision is received from a facility administrator, licensed psychologist, or other professional at a higher level.

Supervision Exercised:
May be exercised over paraprofessional, semi-professional and clerical staff.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from the Psychologist 2 by the absence of independence permitted in the performance of psychological services and by the legal requirement of supervision by a licensed psychologist.

Interviews, assesses and treats patients, clients, students, or residents in accordance with individual treatment plans developed by the interdisciplinary treatment team.
