The China Strategy Office (CSO) acts as a bridge between global decision makers and the fast-moving Chinese market. We partner with relevant experts to highlight opportunities and threats, and subsequently work with our global partners to develop relevant strategies designed to secure the long term success of our business in China. To large extent the team acts like an extension of a global strategic planning function, ensuring that every global division has a China strategy.

We are seeking a qualified intern for our China Strategy Office, to work as a business analyst in the strategic planning group in Shanghai. This position will involve the development of market analysis and strategy through desk research and expert interviews.

You will:

Work on research projects across the Technology and Telecommunications Industry, covering Products, Government Policy and Market segments.
Collaborate with project teams made up of people with diverse and complementary skillsets
Be Given the opportunity to develop your analytical, strategic thinking, business acumen and project management skills

Your daily responsibilities will vary by project, but you may find yourself:

Conducting consumer, industry and company research and analysis
Performing rigorous, financial, business case, statistical and other quantitative analyses
Supporting team in developing and assessing strategic options
Communicating clearly and concisely in written and oral formats, in English and Chinese.
A small amount of administrative work for the team.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the principles of marketing/business as well as the capability to perform basic statistical analysis. Experience in the IT industry as well as previous work experience in market analysis will be a plus.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual comfortable working in a self-directed environment who meets the following criteria:

Can effectively comprehend and analyze large amounts of research data to identify key trends and observations, draw relevant conclusions and synthesize results to present in executive summary/business context.
Previous strategic type internship in consulting or investment banking, financial analysis and/or market research/analysis
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment
Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of three years University study majoring in one of the following:
Marketing / Market research / Marketing Sciences
Business / Finance / Economics

Fluent written and spoken English is essential.

Number of work days per week: Minimum of 4 days per week
Duration of the Internship: Minimum of 6 months.
