Microsoft’s Identity and Security Services Division is building and running the AD infrastructure and services for Microsoft’s cloud offerings. As a Service Engineer for ISSD you will be supporting identity related services that provide a platform for authentication and authorization. We enable cloud based ISVs including Microsoft initiatives like Azure, Office 365 and other enterprise services. We are looking for a Service Engineer who shares our passion for the complex technical and process engineering challenges that are part of delivering cloud solutions for the enterprise customer.

As a Service Engineer, you will partner across disciplines to drive technical execution of Microsoft Cloud Service Management, Service Engineering and Service Operations projects as well as optimize processes and technologies to ensure efficient and effective service delivery execution. You will work upstream with partner disciplines to ensure the integration of Service Delivery/Engineering into the service delivery lifecycle. As an expert in service operations and service delivery, you will play a critical role shaping the future of how services are delivered at Microsoft. You will play a crucial role in defining, implementing, and sustaining cloud service platforms in new geographical regions and markets.
Your responsibilities will include:

Participating in design and code reviews for development.
Reviewing and recommending infrastructure and service solutions that improve scalability, availability, and performance in a cost efficient manner.
Driving new technology solutions with evaluation, design, development, integration, and certification.
Analyzing business and technical requirements to determine system and service design, risks, and related cost for service deliveries and releases.
Contributing to the product planning.
Driving operational & service requirements.
Performing server optimization/performance tuning to decrease COGS.
Resolving and/or escalating application issues as appropriate.
Definition and implementation of models that meet new market and geographical service delivery requirements for all of the above.
Required skills for success in this roll include:
Experience with very large distributed systems such as multi-terabyte storage farms, and/or horizontally scaled request processing fleets.
Experience with hardware load balancer administration, network optimization, or other related and demonstrable TCP-level experience.
Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 Internet-oriented production environment, preferably across multiple data centers, involving (preferably) at least hundreds of machines.
Demonstrable expertise around specifying, designing, and/or implementing system health, performance monitoring tools, and software management tools for 24x7 environments.
Strong experience with relevant scripting and programming languages (PowerShell, JavaScript, Perl, C#, VBScript, etc.)
Ability to influence, -- including partners and technical teams across organization.
Ability to clearly articulate business and technical issues to staff, peer and senior management.
Experience with Azure and AWS is a plus.
BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Computer Engineering or relevant work experience.
