**Description**
Areas of Advanced Development work include advanced software development, image processing, usability/user- interface design, mechanical systems simulation/analysis/optimization, and general assistance with laboratory experiments and testing. There are many opportunities for hands-on work with imaging equipment in a laboratory environment, as well as computer simulation and mathematical modeling.
Example Work Assignments: • Investigate competitive X-ray imaging products and benchmark imaging performance.
• Develop standard image databases and image quality test methods for 2D and 3D dental imaging systems.
• Investigate the effects of dental X-ray dose exposure to patients through analysis and simulations.
• Develop image processing algorithms, such as noise removal, image quality enhancement, and 3D image reconstruction, using MatLab, ImageJ/Java, or C . Research high-performance computing techniques using heterogeneous computing (CPU and GPU).
• Design of control systems for X-ray equipment using Simulink.
• Implement finite element analysis on mechanical designs.
• Develop computational fluid dynamic models for thermal and fluid flow analysis for the design of X-ray equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
•Pursuing a bachelor's degree in biomedical, mechanical, computer or software engineering, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
•Experience with MatLab, ImagJ/Java or C
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft products
