**Position Summary:**
The primary responsibility of Health Analytics Director is to lead the applied analytics and research functions in support of patient care operations, population health and quality improvement (QI). The Health Analytics Director will also provide primary oversight and direction to the applied analytics group on development and implementation of the clinical quality analysis (QA) program for population health within Carilion Clinic. The Health Analytics Director will work within the data governance process to identify, standardize, extract and synthesize appropriate data elements to support system wide initiatives.
The Health Analytics Director is the leader of the applied analytics team within the Health Analytics Department and will partner with the Chief Strategy Officer/ EVP and the Chief Medical Information Officer/ SVP, and leadership team for health analytics in long term strategic planning.
_**Minimum Qualifications Required**
_
**Education:** A Master’s degree in a related field is required– e.g. public health, health services, industrial engineering, nursing, or medical informatics.
**Experience:**
* Minimum of ten – (10) years of experience using, maintaining, and/or supporting data for performance improvement (PI) in a Business Analytics (BA) healthcare environment with experience in predictive analysis and research.
* Five (5) – ten (10) years of experience leading Business Analytics (BA) healthcare environment
**Other Minimum Qualifications:** Ability to interact and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, finance experts, and IT staff, including business analysts associated with analytics and reporting. Possess a pragmatic, applied orientation to clinical quality improvement and a solid grounding in health services/outcomes research and clinical epidemiology. Familiarity with the landscape of clinical transformation (“volume to value”), Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), quality measurement and reporting, and the need to redesign clinical processes to improve outcomes, lower costs, and utilize data effectively across these efforts. Excellent oral and written communication skills, High functioning skill level with all applications of Microsoft (MS) Office. Experience with data management software such as SAP, SAS, SPSS, or Crystal Reports strongly preferred, and must have knowledge of performance measurement, panel and population management.
