Primary Job Function:
·This is a technical role with the candidate expected to be a critical contributor to building compelling informatics products.
·Develop software on informatics programs from concept through launch. She/he will also be responsible for supporting on-market products post-launch.
·Responsible for defining; developing and documenting either presentation tier; application tier; services tier or data tier of desktop; mobile or cloud hosted informatics products.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Responsible forimplementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Analyze customer needs (via use cases; requirements; or like) and identifying the required architectural facets.
·Execute the various software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities – user stories; use cases; software requirements; design; development and design verification (incl. unit; functional and system testing).
·Implementing and maintain software products ensuring the effectiveness of the quality system.
Develop test plans and test cases for software components.
·Responsible for root cause analysis including troubleshooting of informatics work products during development and for on-market products.
·Design and development of applications using contemporary platform architectures such as SOA (Service Oriented Architectures); Cloud Computing; Big Data; Web; Mobile; other.
·Create and maintain documentation for the artifacts created during the SDLC.
·Ensure the continuous improvement and evolution of software work products.
·Ensure the effectiveness of the ADD Informatics Quality system.
·Independently conceive plans and implement development artifacts (requirements; analysis; design; documentation and software work products) as-needed to meet program goals.
Serve as a lead if necessary; on internal development programs as well as OEM / co-development programs in accordance with the relevant Quality and Regulatory requirements
Position Accountability / Scope:
·The position reports to the Director; Informatics & Architecture and is based in Abbott Park; IL.
·This is a role for an experienced individual contributor who can perform activities independently or under the supervision of an Informatics Software Architect or senior Informatics Software Developer; or under the direction of an Informatics Project Manager.
·The individual is responsible for the design; development and commercialization of informatics products in compliance with internal policies and procedures; both US and Foreign regulatory standards and requirements.
·She/he is accountable for the development of one or more informatics modules as assigned on individual programs.
·She/he is accountable for the assessment of technical risks on informatics programs and on-market products.
·The individual must have the skills to plan and schedule work as well as coordinate activities with peers and other members of the Informatics Development organization and its stakeholders.
·The individual will participate in development efforts using Agile development frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
·The individual will interact with project managers and R&D leadership on project scope; timeline; risks and budget.
·The individual will work as part of cross-functional teams in Global Marketing; Research & Development; Information Technology; Quality; Operations; Regulatory and Business Development to deliver informatics products.
·She/he will work with a broad range of technologists and support personnel both within and outside of Abbott.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in one or more following disciplines: Computer Science; Computer Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Software Engineering; Decision Sciences; Symbolic Systems; Informatics; Mathematics; Physics or Information Systems. An advanced degree in one of the above disciplines is preferred.
Minimum Experience / Training Required:
Minimum of 5 years of experience at a startup, mid- to large-sized corporation is required. The candidate must have experience in developing and launching unique software / informatics products in one of the following industries: healthcare, defense or telecommunications. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills.
