The Managing Editor is responsible for the development of the editorial strategy and ensuring the day-to-day creation and curation of new and engaging content for Fidelity Central, Fidelity Investment’s primary employee intranet site, and national Digital Signage.
The Managing Editor sets the tone and direction for the news content on the site and digital boards working in partnership with people from across Fidelity to mine the breadth of intellectual capital at the firm.
The goals for Fidelity Central and Digital Signage are to:
* Deliver and amplify senior leadership messages to the organization
* Surface and provide exposure to BU and Fidelity-wide content that can be shared across the organization
* Drive associate engagement and productivity
* Create more Fidelity employee brand ambassadors
* Set the foundation for editorial and brand standards that will influence messages and experiences across Fidelity’s digital environment
Primary Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute on a comprehensive editorial strategy and plan tied to corporate and business unit specific messaging priorities and the rhythm of the business
* Cultivate and lead virtual teams from across the business to develop content
* Develop editorial standards and guidelines and coach content providers to ensure that content is engaging and relevant to a wide audience -- from frontline employees to managers to senior leadership
* Development of daily/weekly video news report, working closely with BU and Functional Comms teams to gather and prioritize content
* Manage pool of anchors (which includes this position) for daily/weekly video news report
* Build relationships across Fidelity to surface new/engaging content or optimize existing content
* Design and implement process improvements to enhance quality of content and streamline current editorial distribution processes
* Set direction for and approve the daily push “e-mail” newsletter
* Influence intranet user experience design decisions to support editorial strategy
* Influence content strategies and approaches for communications vehicles including digital signage, major events, etc. to ensure end-to-end experience for associates
* Ensure content and category target mix goals are met
* Participate on an internal/external editorial board comprised of senior communicators from across the company
* Review and QC original content from “reporters” for Fidelity Central and Digital
* Establish feedback tools and metrics to establish and measure clear goals
* Continually research industry intranet and digital best practices and approaches
* Ensure that standards for quality, accuracy, consistency and search-optimization are met
* Ensure that legal, risk and compliance processes are upheld
Education and Experience
The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience as a communications professional (preferably in a PR agency, within the financial services industry or as a reporter / editor at a news media organization) in both the strategic planning and tactical implementation of key communications initiatives

* Ability to “see” stories from all angles and anticipate reactions from multiple stakeholders
* Self-starting quick study (with a solid familiarity with basic business and financial services concepts, issues, products and trends) who can help generate and “sell” creative ideas and new approaches
* Expertise in Microsoft Office applications and online digital channels
