Job Summary:

Solicits, prescreens, underwrites and manages commercial real estate loan requests on multifamily and commercial properties that meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the Bank while balancing risk. Effectively and professionally represents the Bank in the community and respective marketing areas for the development and growth of new loan business.

Major Responsibilities:

* Actively market and solicit loans primarily through broker channels and from other prospective borrowers that include, but not limited to, real estate investors, financial advisors, insurance agents, property managers, etc.

* Design business development program, which includes actively calling on potential borrowers and customers to develop new business with an emphasis on cross-selling.

* Interview and assess loan applicants; describe application review process and discuss features and benefits of Bank's loan programs; discuss key aspects of financing such as rates, terms and payment amounts; provide information on insurance; prepare and submit appropriate loan recommendation for approval; ensure that all required documentation is properly signed and received; explain debt responsibilities, e.g., due date, late charges, and payroll deduction obligations to members.

* Establish and negotiate, where necessary, terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements.

* Utilize decision-making abilities and credit analysis skills to make appropriate credit and structuring recommendations.

* Process and underwrite loan request including analyzing and spreading financial statements/tax returns, measure outside credit support, determine project economics, identify strengths and weaknesses; document the same within the credit files.

* Assess risk rating of loan request per Bank guidelines.

* Prepare and submit written recommendation for loan decision.

* Responsible for conveying loan decision and explanation to applicant.

* Achieve annual origination goals as established by production manager.

* Accountable for the processing and the handling of loan requests through credit decision and funding while maintaining adherence to Bank policies and procedures.

* Learn and maintain a thorough working knowledge and ensure adherence to all new regulatory compliance, Bank policies and procedures and loan program changes.

* Prepare competitive market surveys and recommend modifications to loan programs and pricing; develop and recommend improvements to existing marketing and loan programs; provide input to senior management to streamline and improve loan services for the benefit of the Bank and client.

* Remain knowledgeable about the communities served, and about governmental and current origination trends and competitor programs.

* Attain established goals through active participation in sales and marketing management and provide leadership, training and support to less experienced loan officers and other staff members.

* Preferably, a bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field with a minimum five years commercial mortgage experience with a regulated financial institution. Otherwise, a minimum ten years commercial mortgage experience with a regulated financial institution or mortgage brokerage firm.

* Extensive knowledge of real estate lending regulations, title and escrow functions, loan documentation, credit/financial analysis techniques, disbursement procedures, underwriting functions, etc.

* Effective sales/marketing and customer service techniques along with excellent writing and presentation skills, including ability to communicate complicated analysis in a clear, concise and compelling manner.

* Ability to work well with others including management, other loan officers, support staff, challenging customer situations and other Bank personnel.

* Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills and the capacity to integrate diverse objectives with a high level of attention to detail.

* Willingness and ability to travel within service area to conduct site visits and borrower interviews.
