The Assistant Director will serve at the direction of the Consortium’s Executive Director (currently the Big Ten Conference Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball) in a variety of capacities while monitoring the daily, in-season officiating operations of the Mid-American Conference and/or the Summit League.

The Collegiate Officiating Consortium, LLC. (COC, MBB2) is a company created to manage the intercollegiate officiating programs in the sport of Men’s Basketball for the following NCAA athletic conferences: Big Ten Conference, Mid-American Conference, Summit League, and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

**Requirements:**Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years experience as a NCAA Division I basketball official, coach, or athletic administrator, demonstrated organizational and communicative skills, and a working knowledge of NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules and mechanics.

**Preferred:**Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience as a NCAA basketball conference coordinator of officials (any Division).

**Responsibilities:**

* Provide strategic recommendations and projections specific to the game assignments of Consortium roster officials.
* Work with the Executive Director on the disbursement of game assignments and the composition of officiating crews.
* Assist in the planning and execution of the Consortium’s annual officiating clinics and rules seminars.
* Assist in the development of agendas for in-season conference calls and monthly officiating bulletins.
* Assist in the training, development, monitoring, evaluation and critical assessment of Consortium officials.
* Advise on rules interpretations and mechanics applications.
* Assist in the training and scheduling of the Consortium’s observers program.
* Effectively communicate with the Commissioner and/or Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball of any conference assigned to by the Consortium’s Board of Directors and Executive Director.
* Establish and maintain effective lines of communications with Head Basketball Coaches and Directors of Athletics of any assigned conferences.
* Monitor (on a 24/7 schedule) the travel, health, and welfare of Consortium officials from November through March while effectively communicating with Consortium staff, head coaches, administrators, and game/facility managers in a timely manner.
* Communicate daily with both the Consortium’s Executive Director and administrative assistant with regard to any matters impacting the Consortium’s operations, policies, and procedures.
* Attend games in-person and review the on-court performance of Consortium officials.
* Review in-season game video on a daily basis; identify, grade and data-code plays in the creation of game scripts for officials’ timely review on the Consortium’s password-protected website.
* Provide recommendations on the selection of officiating crews and game assignments for conference tournaments within the Consortium.
* Attend conference tournaments at the direction of the Executive Director and assigned conference officials.
* Provide input into trends/topics to be emphasized in the creation of Consortium instructional videos.
* Assist the Executive Director and Consortium staff with post-season officiating video analysis and performance evaluation. Provide strategic assessment and recommendations specific to the retention and release of officials from the Consortium roster as well as input into the distribution of game assignments for the upcoming season.
* Assess mechanics, judgment, and leadership skills of young officials within the Consortium roster while monitoring the abilities and development of officials from competing conference rosters.
* Attend off-season officiating camps and assist with the identification of NCAA DI, DII, DIII, JUCO and NAIA prospects.
* Attend NCAA, Consortium and conference meetings as requested by the Executive Director.
